Recent Matters
The City of Ottawa's Built Heritage Sub-Committee (BHSC) met on March 8, 2018 to consider an application to alter the former Grant Consolidated School at 2720 Richmond Road, a property designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
Heritage Ottawa supported the City Staff Report recommendation to approve the application. The staff recommendation was supported by BHSC and subsequently by Planning Committee on March 27.

Proposed Addition to Château Laurier
Heritage Ottawa posted a position statement to its website in opposition to the latest iteration of a proposed Château Laurier addition. The statement was widely circulated on social media and appeared in the print edition of the Ottawa Citizen, leading to numerous requests for radio, television and print media interviews. Scroll through the General News section of our website to these and other stories about the controversial addition.
Heritage Ottawa encouraged members of the public to submit their comments directly to the City of Ottawa via its online feedback form before the March 9 deadline.
As of this writing, it's anticipated that the application for the proposed addition will be considered by the Built Heritage Subcommittee, Planning Committee and Ottawa City Council in May 2018.
Heritage Ottawa will continue to advocate for a heritage-sensitive solution to the proposed Château Laurier addition.
