HERITAGE OTTAWA

After a two-year hiatus, Welcoming Ottawa Week (WOW) 2022 is taking place from June 20 to 29. Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership and Heritage Ottawa are pleased to host a series of free guided walks of Chinatown, Byward Market, Vanier, and Little Italy.

The walks will focus on history, food, architecture, places of worship, and the myriad of businesses that have flourished because of the hard work and creativity of immigrants and their descendants. They will highlight the contribution of immigrant communities to each of the neighbourhoods, along with the history, people and vibrant cultures.

WOW is designed to convey the genuine welcome and hospitality of Ottawa to newcomers. It provides opportunities for quality interactions among residents, long-term and new.

Four walks are offered in English: Chinatown, Little Italy and the Byward Market.

A walk through the Byward Market is also offered in French. The Vanier walk is bilingual.
