Ottawa’s cultural sector contributes greatly to our city’s economy and our enviable quality of life. Heritage Ottawa has joined with others to advance Ottawa as a vibrant capital for culture and heritage.
The Ottawa Cultural Alliance (OCA) works collaboratively to strategically address shared opportunities and challenges to further advance the sector’s success. Members of the Alliance have collaborated for many years to advance cultural priorities in the City of Ottawa. In spring 2015, as we advocated for completion of the City of Ottawa’s Renewed Action Plan for Arts, Culture and Heritage (2013-18), the groups agreed to acknowledge this activity by giving our collaboration a formal name.
The Alliance comprises umbrella organizations that collectively serve as the voice for this vibrant sector, including AOE Arts Council, Council of Heritage Organizations in Ottawa (CHOO|COPO), Heritage Ottawa, Ottawa Arts Council, Ottawa Festivals and Ottawa Museum Network.
On Monday, October 26, Heritage Ottawa invites you to join us, along with other member organizations of the OCA and senior City staff, at the Update on Ottawa's Cultural Action Plan. Learn about the status of the City’s current 2013-18 Cultural Action Plan and help us to identify priorities moving forward. We are currently half way through preparation of the Plan. Some of the initiatives are underway while others are behind schedule. Given the City’s financial position, we face challenges to complete the Cultural Action Plan as approved in 2012. It’s time to review the Plan as a community and identify some next steps.
