HERITAGE OTTAWA

Heritage Ottawa has been honoured with an award from the National Trust for Canada.

Presented on Friday evening at St. Brigid’s Centre for the Arts, The National Trust’s Governors’ Award recognizes extraordinary achievement by an individual or organization in heritage conservation in Canada. The award, granted upon the instigation of the Chair of its Board and the approval of its Board of Governors, was accepted by Heritage Ottawa president David Jeanes on behalf of the organization.

The honour comes during a landmark year for Heritage Ottawa as it celebrates both 2017 and its 50th Anniversary with an intensified program of events, a new book publication to be launched in December, and a special feature on its website entitled 50 Years | 50 Stories , produced with support from Ontario150, presenting the stories behind 50 local buildings of heritage interest that the organization has worked to save during its 50 year history.

This is the second honour to be received this year by Heritage Ottawa, which also received the City of Ottawa's Heritage 150 Award, presented in February at the 2017 Architectural Conservation Awards.

Heritage Ottawa welcomes all with an interest in local history and heritage to attend our events, become members or make a donation toward the organization’s continued efforts to preserve the best examples of our historical architecture and cultural landscapes.
