Coffman: Why Proposed Addition to Château Laurier is Incongruous With Historic Structure (Video Link)

The latest version of a proposed addition to Ottawa's Château Laurier "speaks a fundamentally different language than the historic building" says Peter Coffman, architectural historian and Associate Professor of the History and Theory of Architecture program at Carleton University.

Coffman appeared on CTV Ottawa Morning Live today to share his criticisms and explain why he believes that the eight-storey "glass box" design comprised of 171 long-term stay units, proposed for construction at the northern side of the Château, is incongrouous with the original historic structure.
