HERITAGE OTTAWA

Heritage Ottawa's 2014-2015 lecture series concluded on a high note last week with a tremendous presentation by local historian Martha Edmond. Her illustrated talk entitled "City Water, Country Air: Rockcliffe Park at 150" presented the history of the Village of Rockcliffe from 1864 along with the role played by T.C. Keefer in the Village's development. The influence of Frederick Law Olmstead, noted American landscape architect, on the Village's park-like design and development was also highlighted. The well attended event was held at the Rockcliffe Park Recreation Centre and was followed by an informal gathering.

The presentation capped one of our most diverse lecture seasons ever, with topics ranging from Gothic architecture and Modernism to restoration projects, landscapes and even portraiture. Thanks to all of the presenters, volunteers and attendees for making our 2014-2015 lecture series a resounding success.
