HERITAGE OTTAWA
Take action! Sign the petition calling for heritage funding in the 2019 Federal Budget.
Heritage Ottawa believes that Canada's historic places deserve support — and we encourage those who agree to sign this important petition today.
In a 2017 report entitled “Preserving Canada’s Heritage: the Foundation for Tomorrow”, the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development identified the need for federal leadership for the preservation and conservation of historic places, including funding and investment incentives.
Petition E-1778, sponsored by Liberal MP John Aldag (Cloverdale-Langley City, B.C.), calls upon the Minister of Environment and Climate Change to work with the Minister of Finance to ensure substantial funding to support the efforts of Indigeneous peoples, charities, and not-for-profits to save and renew historic places, and encourage private sector investment and heritage philanthropy.
This is a critical opportunity for Canadians who care about the importance of our country’s historic places to demonstrate support for federal funding and investment incentives that would benefit heritage properties not owned by the federal government.
