HERITAGE OTTAWA
Some thirty members, volunteers and other heritage enthusiasts joined Heritage Ottawa on Saturday, May 13 for an enjoyable day-trip to historic Perth, Ontario.
A highlight was our visit to the Heritage Institute at Algonquin College's Perth Campus, where our host Dean Christopher Hahn provided an overview of the college's carpentry and masonry programs. The subsequent campus tour provided an inside look at student work including an impressive stone fireplace, brick aqueduct and timber framing project. All served to illustrate the value of quality materials, technical skills and experience.
Lunch was followed by a pleasant tour of the Perth Museum and a historic walk through town, led by the Perth Town Crier.
Thanks to our kind hosts in Perth, and to everyone who joined us for helping to make the day a success!
