This tour is presented in French.

NEW TOUR: Why was the Rideau Canal built 200 years ago? What was life like in Bytown back then? This walking tour traces the history of the region’s first peoples, the construction of the canal, and the founding of the city up to 1855, when it took the name Ottawa. Through surprising anecdotes that highlight the role of Francophones, you’ll gain a general understanding of the history of Ottawa’s founding.

ATTENTION: If you are interested in the English version of this tour, you must register for UNCOVERING BYTOWN that departs at 2:00 pm on the same day.
