Ken Elder has spent his career and his retirement working to preserve Ottawa’s architectural heritage.
Last night, the City of Ottawa officially recognized his contributions by presenting Mr. Elder with the inaugural Community Heritage Award as part of the 2014-2016 Ottawa Architectural Conservation Awards held at The Innovation Centre at Bayview Yards.
A retired Conservation Architect with the Federal Department of Public Works, an Architectural Advisor and an active member on the Heritage Ottawa board of directors, Mr. Elder has provided his support, professional services and expert advice to the community in support of preserving heritage institutional structures.
The City also took the opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of Heritage Ottawa by presenting the organization with the onetime Heritage 150 Award.
Heritage Ottawa is a group of dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers that promote public awareness of heritage buildings and the conservation of heritage resources. This award celebrated their 50th anniversary and recognized the importance of their work.
