The Ottawa Regional Heritage Fair is an annual event at which students from various regional school boards present heritage related projects in French, English or bilingual formats. This year's fair was held on April 22 at the Canadian War Museum.

For the first time, Heritage Ottawa presented an award at the Fair for the best project relating to Ottawa's built heritage.

Chosen by fair judges, the winning project was entitled "Within the Walls of Mutchmor".

The historic Mutchmor Public School, located in the Glebe, is a Romanesque Revival building designed by renowned architect E. L. Horwood and built in 1895. Additions to the original building were constructed in 1911, 1920, and 1980. In 2000, the building was designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act in recognition of its cultural heritage value.  A modern addition to the school designed by Barry J. Hobin & Associates Architects Inc. is currently under construction.

The winning team from Mutchmor Public School was presented with an award certificate and a $100 cash prize.

Heritage Ottawa congratulates the winners for their excellent presentation!
