Built in the late 1870s on the shore of the lake of the same name in the village of Chaffey’s Lock, The Opinicon’s prime location on the Rideau Waterway attracted locals and tourists alike for over 100 years. A popular resort for fishermen and families who would stay for weeks at a time, it also attracted boaters and cottagers who stopped by for a dining room meal or an ice cream cone. Over time, it fell into disrepair eventually closing in 2012. Fiona McKean will share the fascinating journey of of its re-emergence as a sought after destination.

The lecture is free and there is no need to pre-register.
