A "Call for Sessions" has been issued for the next Ontario Heritage Conference to be held from June 8-10, 2017 in Ottawa.
The annual conference, a joint effort of Community Heritage Ontario and the Ontario Association of Heritage Professionals, is held in a different Ontario location each year. The conference generally attracts some 250 participants including heritage professionals, advocates, volunteers, consultants, municipal planners, heritage trades people, and others concerned with the preservation of Ontario's built heritage and cultural heritage landscapes. The program covers broad heritage issues while showcasing local heritage success stories and going concerns in the heritage conservation field.
This year's conference theme is "Canada 150: Past, Present and Future of Heritage Conservation" and the keynote speaker will be architect Barry Padolsky.
Conference planners are seeking speakers and panellists for presentations along various themes including the current state of heritage planning in Ontario, rural heritage, indigenous heritage, heritage and cultural tourism, the state of heritage in Ontario, and federal heritage conservation in the national capital and beyond.
The deadline for submissions is February 10, 2017.
