Heritage Ottawa seeks applications for the position of Manager Intern, reporting to the President.
Heritage Ottawa is the foremost not-for-profit organisation in the National Capital Region dedicated to the protection and appreciation of built heritage and special places. This is a one-year term position made possible by The Louise Fox / Heritage Ottawa Management Internship.
The purpose of this internship is to provide a significant learning opportunity in heritage conservation for someone launching a career in the field of heritage conservation, through hands-on involvement in both day-to-day activities and longer-term research, planning and advocacy projects at Heritage Ottawa.
Candidates must have post-secondary education specializing in one or more of Heritage Conservation, Architectural History, Architecture, Urban Planning or a similar discipline having substantial exposure to built heritage conservation.
Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with public awareness programs (lecture series, walking tours, publications, social media); office management (familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel required); attendance and note-taking at various meetings; research and report-writing; public engagement; event planning; membership growth and advocacy.
The position is for three days a week with flexibility to accommodate meetings, training opportunities and other commitments. Salary and compensation to be negotiated. The candidate must be legally able to be employed in Canada, and must be willing to relocate at one’s own cost and reside in the National Capital Region. English is essential and French is desirable.
