Position: Manager Intern, Heritage Ottawa

Heritage Ottawa is seeking applications for the position of Manager Intern, reporting to the President.

Heritage Ottawa is the foremost not-for-profit organization in the National Capital Region dedicated to the protection and stewardship of Ottawa’s built heritage and cultural places.  This one-year term position was made possible by the generosity of the Louise Fox – Heritage Ottawa Management Internship.

The purpose of the internship is to provide a significant learning opportunity in heritage conservation for someone starting a career in the same field, through hands-on involvement in both day-to-day activities and longer-term research, planning and advocacy projects at Heritage Ottawa.

Candidates must have post-secondary education specializing in one or more of Heritage Conservation, Architectural History, Urban Planning or a similar discipline having substantial exposure to built heritage conservation.

Duties include (but are not limited to): undertaking project-related research and writing; assisting with administrative duties associated with public awareness programs; office management (familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel required); attendance and note-taking at various meetings; membership growth; and advocacy.

The position is for four (4) days a week.  Salary and compensation will be negotiated, within certain parameters. The candidate must be legally able to work in Canada.  English is essential and French is desirable.
