HERITAGE OTTAWA, By Leslie Maitland
Students from schools across Eastern Ontario recently took part in the 14th Annual Ottawa Regional Heritage Fair held on April 19th at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau.
The Fair is an annual event at which students present their history and heritage-related projects and compete for prizes. Project topics are wide-ranging and challenging, ranging from historical events to persons and places, many of which continue to have impact today.
This Fair is the most fun you can have with history! The students are engaged and enthusiastic.
For the second year, Heritage Ottawa sponsored a cash prize for the best project on Ottawa's built heritage, cultural landscapes or archaeology.
This year's Hertiage Ottawa Award went to Anna Chandler Merlo ( Homeschool / École à domicile ) for her exhibit "The Story of the Chaudière Falls" which presented a well-researched study of the history, geography, archaeology and current prospects for the area.
Heritage Ottawa congratulates this year's winner for her excellent presentation. Bravo, Anna!
