Heather Thomson Joins National Capital Commission

Heritage Ottawa welcomes Heather Thomson as the National Capital Commission's new Manager of its Heritage Program.

Heather has worked in heritage conservation for 16 years at the local, provincial and national levels, and was most recently a Senior Planner with Parks Canada including the Rideau Canal World Heritage Site. Heather championed the Rideau Corridor Landscape Strategy. She also worked for the Ontario Ministry of Culture in Toronto, advising municipalities and provincial ministries on heritage conservation and spearheaded the development of the Ontario Heritage Toolkit.

Heather holds a BA in History from Queen's University and an MA in Planning from the University of Waterloo. She has been our keynote speaker at a past Heritage Ottawa Annual General Meeting.
