HERITAGE OTTAWA

The future of the Booth Street Complex, a collection of historical buildings dating from the 1930s to the 1950s once home to Natural Resources Canada offices and laboratories, will be the focus of a public information session to be hosted by Canada Lands.

Several buildings in the red-brick and concrete ensemble are federally-recognized heritage structures, including laboratories designed by architect Werner Ernst Noffke.

Many, including Heritage Ottawa, consider the Complex with its mix of industrial-style buildings to be an excellent candidate for adaptive reuse and potential transformation to an arts-oriented hub along the lines of Toronto's popular Distillery District.

The Booth Street Complex is bound by Rochester, Orangeville, Norman and Booth Streets.

According to its website, Canada Lands intends to carry out a heritage strategy for the site in consultation with the City of Ottawa.

The public is invited to attend an information session on Tuesday, January 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at St. Anthony's Banquet Hall, located at 523 St Anthony Street ( at Preston Avenue, north of the Queensway. Light refreshments will be served.

An RSVP to info@rueboothstreet.ca is appreciated if you plan to attend.
