Lowertown East – Tour 2 (Sunday, in French)

This walk follows a diagonal path, tracing the history from 1867 to 2017 of a territory and a community, while highlighting the evolution of urbanism, transportation and various types of housing – from the single family house with a corner grocery store to social housing and housing co-ops. Particular focus will be on Bordeleau Park and surroundings: De La Salle school, Ste-Anne parish, Jules-Morin Park, Patro, Macdonald Gardens.

GUIDE: Hélène Beauchamp, whose family arrived in Bytown in the 1860s, is fascinated by the history of francophone Lower Town East and of St. Anne Parish.

 

This tour will be conducted in French.
