IT'S NOT OVER!

CONTACT THE MAYOR AND OTTAWA CITY COUNCILLORS BEFORE JULY 10!

Councillor Mathieu Fleury tabled his "notice of motion" at the June 26 meeting of Ottawa City Council. The motion passed by a narrow vote of 12-10.

As a result, Council has the opportunity to stop the proposed Château Laurier addition at its next meeting on July 10 by supporting Councillor Fleury's motion. If the motion passes by a majority, the conditional Heritage Permit for the currently proposed addition, granted by Council last year, will be void.

CLICK HERE to read the City of Ottawa Memo circulated on July 5 to Mayor Watson and all city councillors, outlining the city's assessment of potential legal implications of rescinding the heritage permit.

Your voice matters!

We encourage all concerned citizens to contact the Mayor and City Councillors before July 10, and ask them to support the motion to rescind the heritage permit for this inappropriate, visually incompatible addition to the Château Laurier hotel.

Support for Councillor Fleury's motion on July 10 has been publicly indicated by Councillors Catherine McKenney, Jeff Leiper, Riley Brockington, Rawlson King, Diane Deans and Shawn Menard via their Twitter accounts and elsewhere. Thank you, Councillors, for your leadership on this important heritage issue!
